“Spectacle” is about the way that media and social media influence the way we treat certain lawbreakers and elevate them to a celebrity status. I specifically chose to make this piece about Anna Delvey, the fake heiress who stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from hotels, banks and upper crust New Yorkers. She has been on home confinement for overstaying her visa and is being forced to wear an ankle monitor. In an interview she mentioned that she doesn’t want people to think she’s flaunting her ankle monitor and that she doesn’t want to be a spectacle. Anna Delvey and her team have since bedazzled her ankle monitor ahead of her Dancing With The Stars appearance.
